Managing Depression | Depression Recovery | Self Help for Depression –Part 1

I know this is contradictory statement of kind that Managing Depression by self help because if you can able to help your self then there is no depression eating you. Depression itself a condition when you can’t able to control your feeling and thoughts even you know they are useless or contradictory. Generally patients of depression are aware that their thoughts, their thinking, their behavior are wrong or against their will but they cant help it even by sheer will power.

Let’s take example that patient of depression know that he or she should quit bad at 7 or 8 AM and start day but even with determination they can’t able to quit bad even at 12PM. What he or she does when morning start with overwhelming depression, confused mind, fear of starting day, fear of thinking about what comes ahead. He or she perfectly aware that exercise is good for depression patient and body releases certain chemicals which can help depression after exercise but because of depressed mind he or she doesn’t feel like to do exercise.

This is vicious cycle that you require self help or do something to coping with depression but because of depression you unable to do it. That’s happens with patient of depression that he or she decided to exercise since year but yet to start it. So here is endless loop and it required sheer determination to break it but let me proceed further that when depression comes to you it affect first on your will power and determination so what is solution? Solution is making your plans for self help small which can be possible to implement.

Let me elaborate other way, when you decided for doing exercise everyday for managing depression what would happen? First one or two days you wouldn’t wakeup till 11AM and doing nothing. Third day you would wakeup early at 7AM anyway by determination, doing exercise for 1 hour rigorously and feeling more tired. Day after that forget exercise for 10 days. This is vicious cycle and you have to make plan to break it.
